What Resources Are Available in the Creativity Center?

Activities at the Creativity Center

Are you looking for things to do with your children or students? Why not visit the Creativity Center and check out our display of learning materials and arts and crafts projects for Jewish holidays, Shabbat, Hebrew and Israel. We have simple stories, decorations you can make for your home, games, books, audio cassette tapes and computer software you can borrow, and much more.

Our Center has many educational materials for all the holidays, Israel and learning Hebrew, including stories, games, and arts and crafts project for all ages on display. You may also borrow any of our large assortment of books, audio tapes and computer software.

Our helpful staff will assist you in finding an appropriate project or activity. You can make the projects right in the Center or bring the directions and materials home to do.

Library/Media Center

Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 8:30 - 5:00; Friday: 8:30 - 2:30

Reading Room Hours: Whenever the JCC is open

We have a collection of over 12,000 books, over 450 DVDs, 900 videos and 150 music CDs that may be taken out on loan. The collection is housed in four different areas: 

Visit the Reading Room located on "Main Street" in the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC). This exciting area features the latest in DVDs, periodicals, newspapers, Judaic fiction and non-fiction books, children's picture books and music CDs. The Reading Room sponsors  free film series throughout the year, as well as book discussions. The room, a joint project of the Coalition and the JCC, is open to the entire community.

The Library/Media Center located on Floor 2R of  the JCC houses a collection of primarily nonfiction Judaic books and videos. There are additional Judaic fiction and nonfiction books (from the original JCC library) currently located on the third floor.

The Creativity Center located on Floor 2F of the JCC houses the curriculum collection as well as a large selection of children's books.

Holocaust Education Resource Center

Check our exciting new web site for information about us, our programs and reservation forms, as well as the opportunity to make donations online.

The Holcaust Center provides lectures, seminars, programs. and consultation on the Shoah (Holocaust) to Jewish and non-Jewish private schools, public schools, universities; conducts teacher training programs; CJL Library/Media Center offers an exceptional collection of videos, both fiction and non-fiction, along with a variety of curricular materials for teaching about the Holocaust. among our offerings are:

  • Speakers Bureau - a free service for area schools and community organizations. trained volunteers are available for speeches, seminars and workshops. speakers include: survivors of the Holocaust, children of survivors, and Holocaust educators.

  • Middle School Holocaust Materials Trunk - The trunk includes textbooks, literature, videos, maps, posters and other curricular material. It is made possible by grants from Milwaukee donors Beverly and Ervin Colton and the family of the late Molly Kleiner. 

  • From Ignorance and Fear to Knowledge and Understanding: Jews, Judaism and the Holocaust - This program brings middle and high school students throughout the state of Wisconsin to a local Milwaukee synagogue. The program focuses on the idea that knowledge and understanding can lead people to make moral choices that will make a difference within their community.
